"Jesus is greater than religion"
This shirt was created to emphasize the difference between a personal relationship with Jesus and man-made religious systems or empty rituals.
Jesus frequently challenged the religious leaders of his time (Pharisees, Sadducees) for focusing on external rules while neglecting justice, mercy, and love (see Matthew 23).
He emphasized internal transformation over external performance:
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” – Matthew 15:8
Many religions emphasize doing enough good to earn God’s favor.
Jesus offers grace, not performance-based salvation:
“It is by grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works.” – Ephesians 2:8–9
The heart of Christianity is not religious activity, but a relationship with God through Jesus.
Jesus is greater than religion because:
- He offers grace instead of legalism
- He calls for authentic transformation, not empty tradition
- He invites people into a relationship, not just ritual
- He critiques hypocrisy and spiritual pride often seen in religious systems
